Xiaomi has just revealed new high-end smartphones for the year 2023. These are the 13 and 13 Pro models. Both are now available for pre-order. If you go to the box before March 7, you will receive a 43-inch Xiaomi TV P1E for free, valued at 449 euros.

Xiaomi recently held a conference in China to introduce various products. Among them, we find a stylish connected watch, attractive wireless headphones, but also an affordable smartphone. On the other hand, the ones that interest us the most are obviously the new flagships of the Chinese brand, specifically the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. The improvements are notable, with a price that has not changed compared to the previous generation for one, and a very important increase for the other. In any case, the manufacturer still wants to be generous by offering a 4K television for early adopters.

Where to reserve the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro?

As said before, the Xiaomi 13 has not changed in price from one year to the next. It is therefore available at 899 euros, in its 8+256 GB version. Regarding the Xiaomi 13 Pro, it is available at 1,299 euros for the model with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. This is 200 euros more than the Xiaomi 12 Pro.

Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro: the new flagships of 2023

For its two new flagships, Xiaomi wanted them to be easily differentiated by offering some design differences. The 13 is the more compact of the two and offers a 6.36-inch OLED screen with a definition of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The particularity is that the edges are not curved, unlike the 13 Pro that has a 6.79-inch panel, this time showing a definition of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels. Both offer a 120Hz refresh rate.

At first glance, the part of the photo then seems quite similar between one and the other. In fact, we find in both cases, inside the photo block located at the top left of the back of the smartphone, a main sensor, an ultra-wide angle and a telephoto lens. Enough to ensure good versatility in most cases. The first one is 50 megapixels (the 1-inch IMX 989, with 3.2µm photosites taken from 4-in-1 Pixel Binning), but the following ones don’t have the same setup. The second sensor is 12-megapixel on one and 50-megapixel on the other, the same for the third which is 10-megapixel on the Xiaomi 13 and 50-megapixel on the Xiaomi 13 Pro. For the latter, our test showed that it works well. in portrait mode, in night mode and in macro mode, with too saturated colorimetry and some focus problems.

For raw performance, you won’t have to worry about whether or not you can run this or that greedy application. Yes, both the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro feature the latest generation of Qualcomm processors, namely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, where one comes with 8GB of RAM and the other with 12GB of RAM. . Such a powerful setup actually promises to enjoy a smooth user experience on Android 13, via the MIUI 14 interface, not to mention the ability to run the most resource-demanding 3D games while pushing the graphics to the max.

Good autonomy is also part of Xiaomi’s two premium smartphones. The 13 Pro has a 4,820 mAh battery, allowing it to easily last a whole day. This is still average, but we are far from the stamina of yesteryear for the Chinese brand’s phones. We are still consoled by the presence of a 120W fast charger in the box, which allows you to go from 0 to 100% in not even 20 minutes. On the classic 13 side, the battery is a bit bigger at 5,000 mAh, but I’m not sure that autonomy would be better without the adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz for the display. Fast charging here goes up to 67 W. Finally, note that wireless charging up to 50 W is available in both cases.
