Samsung and Oppo smartphones for sale:
Successful smartphones for the price.
For this price range, the materials used are less noble than the higher-end models, but the Oppo Reno 7 and the Samsung Galaxy A23 still offer a careful design. The Chinese manufacturer chooses to be inspired by the Cupertino company, and offers slightly rounded flat edges in the corners that facilitate the grip. The Korean giant sets aside glass or metal, in favor of plastic for its Galaxy A23. We find the touch of the Galaxy S, and it surprises with its lightness. It is pleasant in the hand although it weighs 22 g more than its competitor.
At the rear, Samsung opts for a more refined and understated look. The photo module of the Galaxy A23 blends into the case. For the Reno 7 we have the right to a more retro look at the level of its optical block, which is reminiscent of the old silver cameras. In terms of photographic performance, the two are not champions in this area, but they are capable of delivering good daytime shots. Samsung’s model consists of four sensors, including an ultra-wide angle that is absent from Oppo’s. Besidesthe lack of megapixels will cause it to be missing.
A better visualization in one of the two.
On the front we discover two devices with thin-edged screens, the only drawback, the thickness at chin height is quite marked in one and the other. With the punch located at the top right, the front of the Reno 7 is harmonious. Oppo has taken care of the display part and features a 6.43-inch Amoled panel in 2400×1080 pixels with a 90Hz refresh rate. We know Samsung for the quality of its displays. However, here the A23 is content to offer a 6.6-inch LCD panel compatible with FHD + definition. Fortunately, the brand makes up for this by offering a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz to ensure smooth browsing.
In terms of software, either the Galaxy A23 or the Reno 7 both run Android 12. At Samsung, we’re entitled to OneUI, a smooth interface with its fair share of customization options. When configuring the device, it is quite frustrating to find a strong incentive to install adware applications from the manufacturer. Otherwise, it is possible through an update to have OneUI 5 and Android 13. And unlike other Galaxy smartphones, it will support security updates for four years, but will only benefit from two years of Android updates, taking it to Android 14. at most.
On Oppo, ColorOS leads the dance, a colorful interface, quite fluid and, above all, very intuitive. The ergonomics are well thought out and the operating system is pleasant to use with many features for customizing gestures, for example. The Chinese brand brings three years of important updates to this model, taking it up to Android 15.
Effective in the vast majority of daily tasks
Initially sold for less than 350 euros, don’t expect a monster of power in this price range. To function, the Oppo Reno 7 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC, associated with 8 GB of RAM. It’s not the newest chip and even lacks 5G. However, you can enjoy a fluid experience on a day-to-day basis. However, it will not have the shoulders to launch 3D games in the best graphics conditions. On the Galaxy A23 side, it’s powered by Snapdragon 695, coupled with 4GB of RAM. This chip unlocks 5G for the device and provides relatively good fluidity. However, he will have a hard time, like his rival, running greedy games.
To get the most out of your device, Oppo incorporates a 4,500 mAh battery. On the Samsung side, there’s a 5,000 mAh battery, but that doesn’t mean the Reno 7 is any less durable. Running our ViSer protocol, which simulates active smartphone use, it managed to last 1:56pm before going from 100% to 10% battery. Quite a feat as the Galaxy A23 lasted 12 hours and 25 minutes. Both will easily manage to charge a day of use, but if your use is more extensive, it will be difficult to reach two days.
It is also at the charging level that the Oppo Reno 7 stands out with its 33 W fast charge compared to the 25 W of the Samsung Galaxy A23. Therefore, he fills up with energy faster than his opponent – 50% in 30 minutes. For comparison, on the Samsung A23 we were able to recover 32% of the battery in 30 minutes, from 19 to 51% precisely.
Oppo Reno 7 or Samsung Galaxy A23 5G: which one to choose?
After having developed the qualities and defects of each one, it is time to take stock to help you in your choice. Of course, you have to take into account your needs. For example, if you have a 5G plan, the Oppo Reno 7 skips it. If this criterion is not essential, know that this phone does not suffer from slowdowns and daily use is very pleasant, in particular thanks to the ColorOS interface that sublimates everything. It won’t be the right companion for fans of mobile games, but Samsung doesn’t do better on this side.
Another point in favor of Oppo’s phone: its screen. For this price range, we appreciate finding a beautiful fluid AMOLED panel that will be great for watching video content or browsing social media. Both smartphones are capable of lasting a day without blinking, but if you have intensive use, only the Reno 7 is more effective when it comes to recovering percentages faster.
We can conclude that Oppo’s Chinese smartphone wins the duel. Know that even with its small flaws, the Samsung Galaxy A23 will not disappoint anyone, due to its good camera, its good autonomy, its good screen and its interface.
