First expected in the fall, Mobvoi’s Ticwatch Pro 5 could be announced very soon and solve the main concern of watches under Wear OS.

It’s an understatement to say that since Wear OS 3 was announced in June 2021, few manufacturers have joined. With the exception of Samsung, Google, and the occasional watch from other manufacturers, very few models come with the latest version of Google’s operating system. However, we do know that Mobvoi is on site and a connected watch is in the works.

Last July, the Chinese manufacturer provided information about its upcoming connected watch, described as “ epic competitor “. This announcement was then made in the form of a teaser to navigate the presentation, a few days before, of the two new chips for Qualcomm smartwatches, the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and W5+ Gen 1. It must be said that the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 , which will equip the future Mobvoi watch, was to solve one of the most obvious concerns of watches under Wear OS: their autonomy and poor energy management. This will be done in particular by a fine engraving in 4nm and by its new coprocessor low comsumption.

If Mobvoi was going to initially announce its next TicWatch in the fall of 2022, nothing happened in the end and the smartwatch is still pending. However, this patience should soon be rewarded.

An expected Ticwatch Pro 5 on the turn

According to the site XDA DevelopersLeaker Kuba Wojciechowski posted an image of Mobvoi’s upcoming high-end watch, the Ticwatch Pro 5, late last week.

The image posted online allows you to find out more about the watch that Mobvoi already showed last summer. The fluted bezel or the system of horns to hold the bracelet stand out. As the leaker reminds us, the watch should benefit from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 + Gen 1 chip, which would be the first to take advantage of, as well as the Wear OS 3 system.

“It looks like Mobvoi is getting close to launching the clock as they added support for it in their app, as well as visual representations on some elements.”also specifies Kuba Wojciechowski.

Therefore, very soon we could learn more about Mobvoi’s future connected watch.
