Already available in China from the end of 2022, the Honor Magic Vs will be presented in Europe at the Mobile World Congress. The smartphone could be one of the first serious competitors to Samsung’s hegemony in foldable smartphones.

Although folding smartphones have multiplied on the market in recent years, it is clear that their number is much more limited in Europe. Although Oppo, Huawei, Honor, Motorola, Samsung or Xiaomi have already entered the race, currently only Samsung and Motorola models are marketed in France.
However, the market should evolve significantly in the coming weeks. While some noise in the halls is already evoking the launch of Oppo foldable smartphones in Europe, it’s another Chinese manufacturer that should also be launching worldwide at the end of the month. According to the site 9to5GoogleIn fact, Honor has announced its presence at the MWC in Barcelona on February 27. On the page of its website linked to the world telephone fair, the manufacturer -a former subsidiary of Huawei- evokes the two models that should be at the center of the event: the Honor Magic 5 range and the Honor Magic Vs.
The Honor Magic Vs, the first Honor foldable smartphone to be launched in Europe
If the Honor Magic 5 is still new, the Honor Magic Vs is already known, since it was presented last November in China. We even had the opportunity to take it in hand, while he indicated that “The brand’s teams, without confirming anything, were really in no hurry to deny the rumors that the Honor Magic Vs would launch in France during the first half of 2023.“However, if Honor manages to take advantage of MWC 2023 to focus attention on the folding smartphone, three months after its launch in China, it is undoubtedly to presume an upcoming European launch.
The Honor Magic Vs uses the same format as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold range, with a large 7.9-inch interior folding screen and a second 6.45-inch exterior screen. The smartphone also features the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and a photo module with a 54-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. Regarding autonomy, Honor has integrated a 5000 mAh battery compatible with cable charging of up to 66 W.
We will have to wait a few more weeks to have confirmation of the launch in France of the Honor Magic Vs and to know its price. As a reminder, the foldable smartphone was launched in China last November from 7,499 yuan (that is, 1,010 euros without tax) for the 8/256 GB version and up to 10,888 yuan (1,464 euros without tax) in the version of 16/512GB.
