Last May, Vivo launched its first foldable smartphone in China: the Vivo X Fold, which we could take by hand. The hinge had seduced us first better than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 plus a nice photo setup. The brand would return to the market with the Vivo X Fold 2, which promises to go even further.

According filter Digital Chat Station, Vivo’s foldable would move from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. A logical evolution, Qualcomm’s latest chip reserved for high-end smartphones is hailed by critics, especially for its prowess in the Samsung Galaxy S23. A chip that heats up less while being more powerful and with better controlled power consumption.

This would make Vivo the first brand to launch a foldable smartphone with this chip, even before Samsung, Oppo, Honor or even Huawei. However, we can expect the foldable king Samsung to launch a Galaxy Z Fold 5 alongside the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but to launch a bit later than the Vivo X Fold 2.

What we know about the Vivo X Fold 2

The media 9to5Google, which relayed the Digital Chat Station predictions, adds that the Vivo X Fold 2 would have a 4800 mAh battery. That would represent a capacity increase of 200mAh, making it one of the foldables with the largest battery (though not necessarily the best battery life). A battery that would be complemented by a 120 W fast charge, which would crush the competition in this field. By way of comparison, the benchmark for the foldable smartphone format “book“, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, has a charging power of only 25 W.

We do not know at the moment if this model -if it comes out one day- will be marketed outside of China. Vivo is still a relatively confidential brand in our European countries and the Vivo X Fold 2 would not be.”that» its second folding model.
