An improved version of the Switch
The first improvement that the Switch OLED brings, as its name suggests, is the appearance of an OLED panel instead of the LCD screen that the 2017 and 2019 versions of the console equipped. A panel that greatly improves the display and allows, among other things, to benefit from more vivid colors and better contrast.
Better, this slab is also slightly larger at 7 inches on the counter and slimmer edges, adding to the comfort of use without changing the size of the console. My only regret: the console still doesn’t offer definition beyond 720p.

However, the addition of this OLED panel, which is good for the handheld mode of the console, is not the only improvement made by Nintendo. If the processor used here, the Tegra X1+, remains the same as in the 2019 version, this OLED version can still count on extended storage (from 32 to 64 GB). Mobile gamers will also no doubt appreciate the new kickstand fitted to the rear of the console, which this time spans the full width of the device and is as stable as it is sturdy.
The dock has also been overhauled for the occasion, not only with a more visually pleasing design thanks to rounded edges, but also with some hardware improvements. It is specifically an Ethernet port that signs its appearance on the back, to be able to connect the console to the internet by cable. An asset to download the heaviest games or the games available in the cloud.

Originally released in 2007 on Switch and designed to take full advantage of Wii Motion+’s motion-sensing features, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword benefited from a new version on Switch later in 2021. A version that fixes some bugs in the original. (particularly in terms of maneuverability and pace of adventure), to offer an experience adapted to current gaming standards.
The great originality of this episode, which once again makes you embody a certain Link, lies in the fact that our hero begins his adventure in Celesbourg, a celestial city that sails on a tide of clouds. A knight’s apprentice, he rubs shoulders with a wide gallery of characters, including his childhood friend Zelda. In a more classic way for the series, the latter will end up being kidnapped, pushing our hero to explore the vast world, including the lands located under the clouds, forgotten by almost everyone…
Skyward Sword is an interesting game in more ways than one, but its most outstanding feature is undoubtedly that it is the first game in the series timeline. In fact, the story we tell there is located long before the events narrated in Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Will or A Link to the Past. Better, it offers us a very interesting light on the different characters and emblematic elements of the franchise, and allows all the games to be linked together.
