An iPhone 14 with some extra tricks
With the Plus model, Apple offers an iPhone capable of similar performance to the basic version, but with a larger screen and better battery life. We thus go from a screen from 6.1 inches to 6.7 inches, the iPhone 14 Plus therefore loses ergonomics with this gain in size, but the use is not necessarily unpleasant. In terms of autonomy, the Plus model does a little better thanks to its 4,323 mAh battery capable of holding up to 26 hours of video playback according to the manufacturer.
We find the signature screen of the Apple brand with the Super Retina XDR, a high definition OLED panel (2,778 x 1,284 pixels). Brightness was measured at 821 cd/m² during our test and the refresh rate remains stuck at 60 Hz, with 120 Hz being the prerogative of the Pro and Pro Max models. Viewing should still be comfortable in streaming and gaming, though, notably thanks to True Tone, which adapts your display’s brightness and colorimetry based on your surroundings.
The power of Apple in the spotlight
Like the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Plus is powered by the A15 Bionic chip that has a six-core CPU and a five-core GPU. Performance is only slightly higher than the previous model, you won’t have to complain to get a task done no matter what. The chip even holds its own in games quite a bit, for example we’ve run genshin impact on high graphics and 60 FPS without any issues during our test while the competition lags a bit behind under the same conditions.
The photo part, on the other hand, is delayed. We are in the presence of two modules on the back: a 12 Mpx (f/1.5) wide-angle main sensor and a 12 Mpx (f/2.4) ultra-wide angle. The front sensor is of the same invoice with 12 Mpx and autofocus. It is satisfactory, but the iPhone 14 Plus suggests difficulties in portrait or night modes, the absence of a telephoto lens is also detrimental. Finally, the audio is one of the greatest assets of this smartphone with a balanced and dynamic reproduction and a spatialized sound.
