A compact iPhone that fits in your pocket
Its name indicates it very well: yes, the iPhone 13 mini is very small. This Apple brand smartphone thus adopts a small format and, above all, a 5.4-inch OLED screen, which shows a Full HD + definition of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels and a refresh rate of (only) 60 Hz, as already it was the case on the iPhone 12 mini. This small size will certainly delight those who like to be able to hold their smartphone with one hand, even if this panel will not be the most suitable for watching videos. On the other hand, we can always count on Apple’s characteristic finished copies, which, again, opt for rounded corners and robust aluminum edges. Another good point: the smartphone weighs only 140 grams, compared to more than 150 grams for most smartphones currently on the market.
Small, but big on power
If the iPhone 13 mini has a small diagonal, its performance has not been neglected by the brand. As in each new iPhone series, Apple integrated its then new chip, the A15 Bionic, into its iPhone 13 mini, as in the other models in the range. Even if it is slightly less powerful than the one present in the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, this powerful processor will be able to guarantee impeccable fluidity, as we noted during our test. Applications will launch without any issues or slowdowns. On the autonomy side, the Cupertino company opted for a 7% larger battery than that of the iPhone 12 mini accompanied by new software optimizations, which really caught on on that side. Bottom line: The iPhone 13 mini is quite capable of lasting a day, or even surviving a day and a half without too much trouble with moderate use of the device. With a load of 20 W, count a little more than 1h30 on average to fully charge the battery from 25%. MagSafe wireless charging will obviously be a part of this.
Finally, on the photography side, the iPhone 13 mini has two 12-megapixel sensors (one wide-angle and one ultra-wide), as well as a 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera on the front. Here, without a telephoto lens or a LiDAR sensor, reserved for the most premium models in the range. But luckily, the two larger rear sensors promise to take much brighter and more detailed photos in the vast majority of situations.
