Huawei’s next competitor to the Galaxy Z Fold could beat it on one specific point: the ability to send and receive text messages via satellite.

Huawei will launch new smartphones on March 23 at 7:30 am French Metropolitan Time. There we should find the Huawei P60, but also a folding smartphone, the Huawei Mate X3.
The brand shared an image on Weibo to give an idea of its format. We would clearly be in a book format, inspired by the Galaxy Z Fold. Huawei puts a lot of emphasis on the lightness of the device, as well as its robustness. But another point caught our attention.
Satellite communication in a fold
In recent months, satellite communication has become a real challenge for the different players in mobile telephony. But for now, apart from Apple and the smartphones destined to be taken to the works, we are still waiting for the arrival of this technology to the latest smartphones.
According Huawei Center, Huawei would have plans to integrate this functionality into the Huawei Mate X3, making it the first foldable phone to use satellite communication. The phone could send and receive SMS through this.
It is far from certain that Huawei will launch the Mate X3 in Europe, for two reasons. The first is that Huawei is increasingly disassociating itself from the smartphone market and, more generally, from the European market. The second is that 2022 has been a particularly difficult year economically, many Chinese giants are cutting back in 2023.
