A smartphone that will appeal to the largest number
When it launched, the Google 6 stood out from the competition for its photographic performance. We are entitled to two sensors: a 50-megapixel wide angle and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle. Although the Pixel 7 brings a super-resolution zoom up to a factor of 8x and some new features, the shots captured with the Pixel 6 will be of great quality. It delivers results rich in detail and contrast, even in low light. Color reproduction will be very natural.
In addition to its photographic qualities, the Google Pixel 6 offers beautiful finishes and the bar that crosses the width of the phone is quite nifty. Sorry it’s a bit heavy. On the screen side, it has a 6.4-inch screen, less compact than that of the Pixel 7 (6.3 inches), therefore, but which defends itself well with its Amoled Full HD + panel updated at 90 Hz. .
It’s still relevant, but…
It was with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro that the Mountain View company began to offer its own chips. Under the hood, we discover Google Tensor, a chip that is based mostly on artificial intelligence and offers new functions with Google services. With this chip, you won’t have to rely on your phone to play. But keep in mind that the Tensor G2 chip introduced in the Pixel 7 is pretty much a slightly more powerful version, but it doesn’t deliver any real gains. So the Pixel 6 will be fine in most situations. In the software part, you will have more or less the same experience.
But when choosing the Pixel 6, expect less longevity than the Pixel 7. The latter benefits from an extra year of software monitoring, bringing it to Android 16, followed by two years of safe software patches until 2027, when the Pixel 6 stops at Android 15. and it will no longer be supported in 2026. Nothing too bad, but it’s good to keep that in mind. When it comes to battery life, the Pixel 6 doesn’t disappoint. With its 4,614 mAh battery, the old Google flagship was capable of achieving two days of autonomy compared to a day and a half for the Pixel 7 (compared to 4,355 mAh). Finally, 30W fast charging will be part of it, and you will be able to take the smartphone from 0 to 50% battery in just 30 minutes, in wired or wireless mode.
