However, some big brands are thinking about how to reduce their impact on the environment and innovative solutions are emerging, as was the case with Acer with this “eco-responsible” laptop. At the moment, the Acer Aspire Vero National Geographic edition is available at 599.99 euros instead of Darty’s 899.99.
E-waste is a source of great concern and for good reason, only a small part of it is recycled while the rest is incinerated, further polluting the air. While our consumption habits are changing with the increasingly popular refurbished ones, Acer has won the bid to develop an eco-responsible laptop. And it is that, it is not necessary to go into debt to make a gesture for the planet, since the Acer Aspire Vero National Geographic edition benefits from a discount of 300 euros.

Instead of the usual €899.99, the Acer Aspire Vero AV15-51R-550M is now available for sale for €599.99 at Darty.
An eco-friendly laptop
This is the great argument of the Acer Aspire Vero. Its chassis is made from 30% recycled plastic and is 100% recyclable. It is easily removable and also shows a repairability rate of 8.2/10. On the other hand, the material may not be liked by everyone since we are on a kind of rough plastic, and the National Geographic logo does not change much. And on the design side, the Acer Aspire Vero is far from canon beauty, there’s no coat of varnish or paint. We only have the raw material sprinkled here and there with colored glitter.
The screen is a 15.6-inch IPS panel in Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) and is also 99% recyclable. However, its quality is not really brilliant, we have in particular a brightness that does not reach 250 cd / m² and an above average response time. Its dimensions are limited so that this laptop deserves the name of ultrabook, especially since its weight is close to 2 kg. With these features alone, we have the right to wonder if this laptop is worth its launch price of 899.99 euros.
For office use only
The Acer Aspire Vero features an Intel Core i5-1155G7 processor with 4 cores and 8 threads with a base frequency of 2.5 GHz and 4.5 GHz in boost mode. It is supported by 8 GB of DDR4 RAM to perform all your tasks smoothly, but you will need to stick to office use. The processor GPU is an Intel Iris Xe and will only be able to run modest games, and with the high response time we talked about earlier, the conditions aren’t exactly optimal for gaming.
However, autonomy is interesting since it is around 9 hours and storage is provided by a 512 GB NVMe SSD for ultra-fast load times. The range of connectors is completed with a USB-A 2.0 port, two USB-A 3.2 ports, a USB-C port, an HDMI port, an Ethernet port and the essential 3.5mm jack port. We can salute Acer’s efforts to have developed the most eco-responsible laptop we’ve ever seen, but it’s a shame the quality and price aren’t up to scratch.
