Fancy a simple electric bike? Citroën launched its City last year and it is already cheaper during the sales: 899 euros in Boulanger, compared to the usual 1,090 euros.
Inevitably best known for its cars, Citroën has nonetheless had a glorious past in the world of bikes and naturally launched into the VAE market last year, notably with the aptly named “City”. It is an electrically assisted bicycle designed for the city that does not reinvent the wheel, but does have some appeal for regulars of the brand who want to start cycling.
Although this model is made in China, the tricolor quality has a price, and is usually found above 1,000 euros. Fortunately, a promotion of 200 euros is currently running during the winter sales.

A classic but effective VAE
Equipped with an aluminum frame, the Citroën City does not stand out with an original design, but its solid and go-anywhere design allows it to blend in with the décor. Of course, be careful, it has a weight of 29 kg, so think about being able to store it at home without having to climb stairs.
With its 28-inch wheels, bumps can be easily absorbed, even if the bike won’t be able to handle big bumps either. In general, circulation is comfortable over time. The rest of the equipment offered completes the needs in the city with, in particular, mudguards, a chain guard or even a stand. On the other hand, do not have complete electronics on board, the City does not have a GPS locator, automatic alarm or Bluetooth.
A bike without frills, but one that knows how to be efficient
The battery, integrated under the luggage rack, has a capacity of 360 Wh. It will be necessary to have a range of 45 km. The 250 W motor (the maximum authorized in France) is housed in the rear wheel hub and the battery is located in the luggage rack, something relatively classic in entry VAEs. level.
Otherwise, nothing is too bombastic with a six-speed transmission, pad brakes, a fixed fork and a so-called “comfort” saddle to better tackle urban routes.
