After smartphones with excellent value for money, Realme recently launched into touch panels. Although the market is no longer as dynamic as before, Xiaomi’s rival may be planning to reverse the trend by offering affordable references. This is the case of its emblematic tablet, the Realme Pad, whose 128 GB version goes from 289.99 euros to 219.99 euros on Amazon.

Realme entered the touchscreen tablet market in September 2021 by launching the Realme Pad, a simple, familiar and affordable tablet. A breath of fresh air in a market dominated by iPads that cost thousands and cents. This tablet is an entry-level model, so don’t expect to splurge on it. But, the Realme Pad is still a good deal, especially during this flash sale that allows you to get a discount of 70 euros for the 128 GB version.

The Realme Pad in a few points

  • A very affordable price for a tablet.
  • A long lasting battery
  • The decent performance of the SoC MediaTek Helio G80

Instead of the usual 289.99 euros, the Realme Pad (128 GB) is now available on sale for 219.99 euros on Amazon. The 64 GB version is also on sale at 187.99 euros instead of 259.99 euros.

Simplicity as leitmotif

The Realme Pad is, let’s say it, a tablet that wants to play in the big leagues without having the necessary capabilities. This can be seen in its design, which is heavily inspired by the iPad in terms of its thin edges and button layout. This tablet is also committed to its portability with its thickness of just 6.9 mm and its weight of 440 g, an argument that will convince workers used to traveling and among whom touch tablets are regaining appreciation.

But as far as the screen is concerned, we are far from Retina. Realme keeps it simple with a 10.4-inch IPS LCD screen in WUXGA+ resolution (2000 x 1200 pixels) and with a refresh rate locked at 60Hz. Brightness and colorimetry are still OK, unlike the contrast ratio. Too low. The Realme Pad is still a good device for working or watching videos, but the display quality is content with the union minimums and does not seek to go further.

A tablet that goes to the essentials

Inside we find a MediaTek Helio G80 processor assisted by 6 GB of RAM in its 128 GB version. Also on this point, the Realme Pad is still correct but sticks to simplicity. This tablet will have no problem doing common tasks like browsing the internet and watching videos, but for gaming, it’s a different story. Less resource-intensive games may run smoothly, but the latest 3D games will invariably experience slowdowns.

The Realme Pad at least has the merit of excelling in endurance with its 7100 mAh battery, giving it a 12-hour battery life on video playback. It’s perfect for workers and students who rely on a device that can last a work day. Recharging, on the other hand, is limited to 18W and can take almost three hours to recharge. This tablet may be right for you, but as long as you don’t ask too much of it.
