Launched in January 2022, Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard is rocking in all directions. It must be said that at 69 billion dollars, this acquisition is not only the largest ever made by Microsoft, but also in the video game industry.

Europe in the process of validation of the OPA
For its acquisition to be a reality, Microsoft must first have it validated by the competition authorities of all the countries in which Activision-Blizzard operates. Four of them are particularly important: the FTC in the United States, the European Commission for the EU, the SAMR in China, and the CMA in the United Kingdom.
However, according to Reuters, the efforts made by Microsoft to show its goodwill have convinced the European Commission. The Redmond firm would therefore not be obliged to resell the license Obligations to validate your purchase. It should be noted, however, that the European Commission will definitively rule on the issue on April 25.

If this information is confirmed, it would be excellent news for Microsoft. More than just validation, this decision would send a message to other authorities around the world. This could particularly influence the decisions of the FTC, which is nevertheless unfavorable to this acquisition, as well as the UK, which is also unfavorable.
