Dell returns to the desktop PC market with a new iteration of its Desktop XPS, the desktop version of its popular XPS ultraportables. The only notable change is the hardware, as we’re moving up to 13th generation Intel processors and RTX 4000 graphics cards.
As MWC takes place these days in Barcelona, Dell continues with its work and announces the new XPS 13 and XPS 17. Updates to its flagship line of laptops for professionals. Along with these ultraportables, there is also the upgrade to the Desktop XPS, a powerful tower. It is equipped with the latest Intel processors and the latest graphics cards from Nvidia.
13th Gen Intel and RTX 4080/4090 on show
In its press release, Dell indicates that this new Desktop XPS is equipped with 13th generation Intel Core i9k processors, Ndivida GeForce RTX 4090 (or AMD Readeone RX 6900 XT) graphics cards. The RAM is DDR5, which is said to offer up to 60% faster speeds compared to DDR4. We can also equip this XPS Desktop with up to 64 GB of RAM.
With this new generation of processors, Dell aims to deliver up to 41% more CPU performance. On the storage side, there are two slots for SSDs and another two for hard drives.
Desktop XPS design changes slightly
It’s not just inside the machine that things change. The design of this stationary PC is slightly revised with an aluminum chassis. The front façade has a redesigned grille. In addition, new colors are available: there is not only black, now also graphite and aluminum.
Dell specifies that its Desktop XPS ” is available with liquid cooling system and optimized side ventilation “. With this comes Wi-Fi 6E, which is becoming the standard in machines dedicated to professionals.
Dell Desktop XPS (2023) Price and Availability
Dell Desktop XPS version 2023 will be available « soon without any details on a specific date. The minimum configuration will be sold at 1399 euros. At launch, only the configuration with a 13th Gen Intel Core and an RTX 4080/4090 will launch.
A lower price if we look at the current base model of the XPS Desktop, with a 12th generation Intel Core and an RTX 3060 Ti, all sold for almost 1700 euros.
