Nintendo has announced an offer to play Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games. Here we show you how to enjoy it and for what prices.
Big announcement this Wednesday, February 8, during the Nintendo direct about the games of the first half of 2023. We have seen many trailers, including the one for the next The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the KingdomHis nostalgia was also in the spotlight with HD remakes of all kinds.
And as nostalgia seems to be paying off, Nintendo is continuing its process of recycling its old consoles by adding the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance to Nintendo Switch Online. Here’s the full list of games for each platform at launch.
Games on Game Boy at launch:
- tetris;
- The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX;
- Super Mario Land 2;
- Kirby’s Dreamland;
- metroid 2;
- Wario Land 3;
- Games and clocks gallery 3 ;
- the search for the gargoyle;
- Alone in the dark: the new nightmare.

How to take advantage of it?
Hang in there, because as is often the case with Nintendo and online features, nothing is simple. We recommend that you read the next three paragraphs to make the right decision.
To play games on Nintendo’s retro console, you must be a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber. Individually, it costs 20 euros for a year. But if you have friends or family who would like to subscribe too, you can sign up for a family subscription and invite them to join you in sharing the bill (up to 8 people). For one year, it costs 35 euros.
However, with the Online subscription, you will only be able to play the GameBoy, NES and Super NES as retro consoles. For the N64, the Mega Drive and now the Game Boy Advance, you must subscribe to an additional pack in addition to the online subscription, either a family or individual subscription. This package also gives access to additional races in mario kart 8 deluxe and the DLCs ofanimal crossing et splatoon 2.
There, the addition goes up immediately since it is impossible not to subscribe for a year to this additional package. For an individual subscription with an additional package, you spend from 20 to 40 euros. For a family subscription, the pack raises the price from 35 to 70 euros.
