Acer invited us to discover its novelties presented at CES 2023. A fairly complete range of desktop or portable PCs and with good ideas.

Acer took advantage of CES 2023 to present new machines, but did not exhibit them in Las Vegas. Instead, the brand invited us to discover its new range of PCs and laptops in Paris.

Acer Swift PC: better name and with the right ingredients

We start with the brand’s ultraportable consumer PCs: the Acer Swift family. Goodbye names that could be nebulous like Acer Swift 1 or 5, now each machine has the right to its own name. Thus, we find the Acer Swift Go for the entry level, the Swift 14 for the high-end and the Swift X for PC integrating a dedicated graphics chip.

It was the latter that seemed to be the most interesting of the family in 2023 and we are already looking forward to testing the machine. In fact, the PC integrates a 13th generation Intel chip (H series) with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 graphics chip and a 16:10 Oled screen in 2880 x 1800 pixels. In short, it has everything to please on paper.

Launch scheduled for the 2nd quarter and from 1,699 euros.

Acer Aspire S 32: good ideas

Acer is also releasing desktop machines and the Acer Aspire S 32 caught our eye for its big ideas. it’s a machine all in one Built around a 32-inch 2560 x 1440 pixel display and a 13th generation Intel chip.

The most interesting thing is in the accessories that Acer offers. The brand includes a large wireless touchpad capable of being recharged at the base of the PC, by being magnetized to the base. This touchpad supports the use of a stylus to sign documents. This already makes this Aspire S 32 the ideal PC for agency professionals.

It is easy to imagine a bank or real estate agency equipping itself with this type of machine for all agent tasks, including signing documents with clients.

Acer also offers an optional camera system to mount magnetically behind the screen. This is reminiscent of the modular system of the Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 4 just introduced at CES. Acer presented two possible cameras, one quite classic and the other surrounded by a ring light to better highlight the theme.

The Acer Aspire S will be offered from 1,299 euros in 27 inches or 1,799 euros in 32 inches, and a launch scheduled for May and June respectively.

Acer Nitro and Predator: hype

A corner of the presentation was devoted to gaming machines from the Nitro and Predator families. Here there are no great revolutions for this year, but there are new promises in terms of benefits. Obviously, this first requires the integration of 13th generation Intel or AMD Ryzen 6000 processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 graphics chips.

Acer also proposes several optimizations in its cooling systems in order to take advantage of increasingly powerful chips. New air intakes, better designed and more efficient fans and Liquid Metal for the chip.

At the top of the pyramid, Acer places its Predator Helios at 16 or 18 inches. It’s the living machine with all the best: up to 32GB of 4800MHz DDR5 RAM, PCIe Gen 4 storage in Raid 0 plus an Intel HX processor and next-generation graphics chip. Nvidia Ada Lovelace.

What we get to see is mostly its screen. Acer announces a 16:10 2560 x 1600 pixel panel capable of going up to 165 or 240 Hz on LCD and up to 250 Hz on Mini LED. It is this last reference that should shine due to the number of colors and brightness, up to 1000 cd/m2 and 100% DCI-P3 coverage.

The Predator will be offered from February and 2,399 euros for the 16-inch version and at 2,499 euros and in March for the 18-inch version.
