On the occasion of its world event organized in Amsterdam, Philips on Tuesday announced the arrival of many audio products. The Dutch manufacturer has noticeably lifted the veil on its new high-end Bluetooth headset from the Fidelio range, the Philips Fidelio L4.

Like all models in the Philips Fidelio audio range, the Fidelio L4 is primarily designed for listening with the highest possible sound fidelity. It does not forget about the advantages of modern mobile helmets, with Bluetooth connection. Here, Philips not only announces support for the LDAC Bluetooth audio codec, but also for the next-generation LC3 codec, embedded in the Bluetooth LE audio profile.

Obviously hi-fi headphones require it, the Fidelio L3 can also be used wired, not only thanks to the mini-jack port, but also using the USB-C connection. Therefore, it will be possible to use the Fidelio L4 while it is recharging.

Active Noise Canceling Headphones

The Philips Fidelio L4 also incorporates 40mm diameter drivers and benefits from a circumaural design, with cushions that rest around the user’s ears for better passive isolation. It also benefits from a hybrid active noise reduction feature that uses four microphones, two outside and two inside. Philips also announces that it has placed the external microphones at the rear of the helmet to make them less sensitive to wind than the ones on the Fidelio L3 released in late 2020.

For the controls on the headphones, the Philips Fidelio L4 uses a touch surface with a sliding system. So it’s close in use to what’s found elsewhere in the Sony WH-1000XM4, for example.

At the moment, Philips has not communicated on the price and availability of its Fidelio L4 headphones. The Dutch manufacturer is content to point out that it will be offered.”this yearwithout further details. For reference, the Fidelio L3 launched at 349 euros. Therefore, we can expect similar if not slightly higher price positioning.
