Recommending an electric car is not an easy task. To be at least credible, it is necessary that frandroid recommend a worthy product. During our test of the Hyundai Ioniq 6, we were quickly won over by the performance of this electric sedan. In view of its services and the displayed price, the product received a score of 8/10 and comes across as a true rival to the Tesla Model 3.

So it’s no surprise that the buying guide team has included the product in the following selections:
In our eyes, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is one of the best electric cars of this start of the year and here are the reasons why.
Why buy the Hyundai Ioniq 6?
Of course, investing in an electric car is not done lightly, given the budget allocated to it. Before fully embarking on this process, we also recommend that you read the complete specification sheet of the Hyundai Ioniq 6. In fact, it can be complex to choose a car since the versions and their prices differ.

For its ultra-fast charging
With its electric car, Hyundai promised especially good results in terms of charging. During our test, we were able to observe some pretty impressive performances. In fact, it goes from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes, thanks to an announced maximum power of 239 kW. So understand that in 4 minutes of charging, this electric car is capable of recovering up to 100 km of autonomy in the WLTP cycle. For comparison, the Tesla Model 3 requires about 30 minutes to go from 10 to 80%.
For your metered consumption
In addition to a very fast charge, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is also distinguished by its very restrained consumption. If the manufacturer announces 14 kWh/100 km, we go up to 15.7 kWh/100 km during our test. This goes hand in hand with a theoretical autonomy measured in 614 WLTP. Of course, this mainly depends on the traffic conditions and the road you are taking. The 77 kWh battery in its Propulsion version offers good prospects.
For your driving comfort
From the outset, the electric car has sporty lines and a certain idea of luxury. It is true that it is a sedan, but this one offers a lot of space inside it. The choice of materials as well as the space left for passengers, especially in the front, is very pleasing. We can regret a 401-liter trunk that is one of the smallest in its category. In driving, the behavior on the asphalt is ideal. The power rise is good, as is the cornering. Finally, you are entitled to several driving aids, including level 2 autonomous driving that has never been taken as default.

Hyundai Ioniq 6: the drawbacks to know
If our review of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 is dithyrambic, it is necessary to make some concessions. In this electric car, this is at the level of the infotainment system. The latter is made up of too many submenus and the temptation to simply do without them will be great. In this regard, the route planner is also disappointing as the route details are not very good.
You have to blindly trust your car to know what level of autonomy you will achieve in your stage. Fortunately, these are two things that can be fixed by remote OTA (over-the-air) updates. In detail, we can also regret this rather small trunk or the incompatibility of the car with the Tesla Superchargers network.
Buy the Hyundai Ioniq 6 if you need:
- An electric car that charges very… very fast
- An electric car that controls its consumption
- A car with great autonomy
- A very nice electric car to drive.
- A very simple infotainment system (but a bit too much)
Do not reverse the Hyundai Ioniq 6 if:
- you need a big breast
- You love advanced infotainment
- Often carries large adults on the back.
