Are you looking for a cheap Android TV media box? And, if you go to the Nokia Streaming Box 8000, which thanks to this promotion is available for 60 euros in Boulanger, instead of 100 euros at launch.

With the rise of connected televisions, the market for multimedia boxes has slowed down a bit in recent years, but it is making a comeback with well-finished products and, above all, with features that we cannot find on our smart screens. Nokia, for example, has turned to the field with its Streaming Box 8000, an excellent ally to transform your 4K TV or PC monitor into a connected TV at a lower cost. That’s good, since it’s possible to get one in Boulanger on sale during the sales for 40 euros less than the usual price.

What is the Nokia Streaming Box 8000?

  • A compact and discreet box
  • Compatible with 4K, HDR10, Google Assistant and Chromecast
  • A smooth experience on Android TV

Launched at a price of 99 euros, but now shown at a price of 59.99 euros, the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 is now being offered on sale at 59 euros at Boulanger during the sales.

A dated but effective design that runs on Android TV

As for the design, the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 is not very original. We end up with a black brick reminiscent of old Xiaomi models or often found in Chinese retailers. However, this square has very compact dimensions: 11.2 x 11.2 x 2.4 cm and only the logo of the brand reminds us that it is Nokia that is at its origin. However, we find a fairly complete connection with an Ethernet port, an HDMI port, an AV OUT port, an optical port, a USB-C port and, on the side, a USB-A 3.0 port. On the wireless side, it’s classic with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 support for connecting multiple compatible devices.

The strength of the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 lies above all in its interface based on Android TV. Google’s TV operating system is updated to its latest version and offers everything a similar box can offer, i.e. access to the Play Store to download apps, built-in Chromecast to stream content from a smartphone, tablet or the ChromeOS browser on your PC, and even support for Google Assistant for voice control from the remote. Clearly we are not at the level of an Nvida Shield in terms of fluidity and use, but it does the job perfectly.

Good enough for most uses.

The Streaming Box 8000 isn’t a power monster, but its Amlogic S905X3 chip along with 2GB of DDR3 RAM has enough to run some more advanced applications plus handle high-definition video streaming up to 4K with HDR10 as a bonus. However, we regret the absence of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for sound.
