The Samsung Galaxy A34 has just been presented by Samsung. Take over from the Galaxy A33 by concentrating the news on the screen. With a small price increase too.
The Samsung Galaxy A34 is the worthy successor to the Samsung Galaxy A33. Like the entire range, its photo block has completely disappeared in favor of three photo modules built directly into the body of the smartphone.
For the rest, we find its mid-range smartphone profile that tries to please everyone: 6.6-inch AMOLED screen and therefore quite impressive in size, 48-megapixel main photographic sensor that promises to do the job and 5000 mAh battery that announces up to two days of autonomy.
The screen takes a step
To find new features, you will have to resort mainly to the screen, which benefits from two advances: a higher brightness of 1000 cd/m² compared to last year’s 800 cd/m² and a refresh rate that goes to 120 Hz, compared to the 90 Hz above. What you gain considerably in viewing comfort. Too bad Samsung kept the U-shaped notch, which takes up a lot of space, but we have to make some concessions.

The good surprises are still there: we find IP 67 for very good resistance to water and dust, Gorilla Glass 5 protection and, above all, four years of Android updates and five years of security. Like last year, this is a real advantage of the A34, which is simply the only smartphone in its price range to offer such a level of performance.
For the photo, Samsung bets on a 48-megapixel main sensor, with optical stabilization, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and an 8-megapixel macro. The selfie sensor amounts to 13 megapixels. Charging will be capped at 25W and there is a fingerprint sensor under the screen. For power, count on a MediaTek Dimensity 1080, a SoC that we don’t know about yet and rather positioned at the entry level.
Prices and availability of the Samsung Galaxy A34
The Samsung Galaxy A34 is available in four colors: black, silver, lemon and lavender. It is listed at 399 euros in 6 GB + 128 GB and 469 euros in 8 GB + 256 GB and is already available on March 15, 2023, so it increases by about twenty euros.
