On the occasion of MWC 2023, Lenovo renews its fourth-generation ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 4 and X13 Gen 4 giving them a new design. However, the two devices will not hit the market before the summer.

Every two years, Lenovo renews the appearance of its ThinkPads from scratch, so it is quite logical that on the occasion of MWC 2023 the brand lifts the veil on two new models with a completely new design: ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 4 and X13 Gen 4 .

Also throbbing within this new chassis are the latest mobile processors from Intel (Raptor Lake, 13th Gen) and AMD (Ryzen 7000) announced in January. Be warned, though, Lenovo is reserving its ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 4 convertible model for Intel, so it’s offering an AMD option only on the ThinkPad X13 Gen 4.

ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 4 and X13 Gen 4: what’s new?

Lenovo returns to the color black anyway with its ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 4 and X13 Gen 4. However, the latter can, depending on the model, be replaced by a “Storm Grey” gray that we had already seen on older models. Both devices also benefit from a chassis that is based, this year, on recycled aluminum and magnesium. The convertible model also replaces its carbon fiber lining (previously present on the hood) with magnesium.

In terms of measurements, the X13 Gen 4 benefits from a slimming treatment that is limited this time to 15.95 mm thick for 1.14 kg on the scale… against 18.1 mm and 1.21 kg so far . To achieve this result, Lenovo, for its part, makes a cross over the easily replaceable keyboard of its old “classic” X13. However, we should maintain a good wearing comfort thanks to an unchanged stroke depth of 1.5mm.

As for its display, the ThinkPad X13 Gen 4 benefits for the first time from a 2.8K OLED panel topped by a new 5MP webcam (optional). This model, for its part, says goodbye to its 5G option to settle for the simple 4G LTE connectivity, also optional. A game changer, Lenovo has finally moved the speakers on both of its devices to install them this year on either side of the keyboard – the best possible placement in our opinion.

In any case, the ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 4 and X13 Gen 4 will hit the market in July 2023, starting at €1,290 for the former and €1,190 for the latter.
