Huawei’s upcoming FreeBuds 5 could have a very rounded stem, with an original design for wireless headphones

While Huawei released its latest mid-range earbuds with in-ear tips and active noise reduction, the FreeBuds 5i, late last year, the Chinese manufacturer could very soon introduce new wireless earbuds in a better high-end position, the Huawei FreeBuds 5.

Let’s remember that Huawei offers three main ranges of wireless headphones. If the Pro and i ranges are in-ear headphones, the only encrypted range, like the FreeBuds 3 or FreeBuds 4, is content to offer active noise reduction backed by an open format, therefore no passive isolation.

However, Huawei’s encrypted range has so far offered a fairly classic format with cane headphones similar to what Apple can also offer with its AirPods 2 or AirPods 3. However, it seems that the Chinese manufacturer has decided to drastically change the design of his headphones for his new FreeBuds 5. On the Chinese social network Weibo, a photo that supposedly represents the box of the headphones thus reveals very rounded stems, undoubtedly to better adopt the shape of the user’s ear. We can also discover large slots in the ear cups, which probably allow the integration of the microphones used for active noise reduction.

The image also makes it possible to discover not only the name of the Huawei FreeBuds 5, its design, but also two features with the support of the Hi-Res Audio Wireless specification thanks to the compatibility with the HWA Bluetooth audio codec.

An announcement scheduled for March 23.

In addition, the snapshot published on Weibo echoes a teaser shared by Huawei on the same social network. We can discover a rounded shape reminiscent of the shape of the headphone rod. Which corroborates the fact that the manufacturer’s headphones will offer this design for the less original.

Xiaomi has already announced that its FreeBuds 5 will be announced in China on March 23, less than a week from now. For the rest, we still do not know its full characteristics as well as the price and the potential availability of the headphones in France.
