With the advent of the electric car, new companies are entering the automotive segment. Of course, we are thinking of Tesla, but we can also mention the Chinese group Baidu, Apple with its Apple Car and, of course, Xiaomi. The Chinese group specializing in new technology products has confirmed that it is designing its first electric car. We have known this since 2021. In the meantime, some rumors have emerged, such as the battery used, which could allow 1,000 km of autonomy, or even the desire to market four different models in the long term.
The first model would be the Xiaomi MS11 as can be seen in the photos published by the Chinese media and in particular IT Home. These photos are from a leak, as they clarify Wanghua, in charge of relations with the press of the Chinese group. Specifically, the man says that the leak is from a supplier, who has confidential design documents. But the brand insists that this design is far from definitive.
A very Chinese electric car
In any case, these few images allow us to appreciate the shape that Xiaomi’s future electric car will take. This is a sedan that looks a lot like a Nio ET7. We found some elements of a Porsche Taycan as well as a Tesla Model 3. The fully glazed roof and small sedan side-cut fastback styling bring a bit of sportiness to the package.
A LiDAR can be seen at the top of the windshield. This is precisely what gives Nio a bit of air. If you are not familiar with this type of technology, LiDAR allows to improve (at least on paper) autonomous driving. It is a sensor that complements cameras, radars and ultrasonic sensors.
