The 100% electric Peugeot e-3008 SUV is eagerly awaited. It must be said that it is one of the most emblematic cars of Peugeot. The formalization of this future electric car is scheduled for 2023, and we already have an idea of what awaits us. We take stock.

We know Peugeot for its Peugeot 208, the best-selling car in France in 2022. We are talking about 88,812 units sold, all engines combined, including 19,219 Peugeot e-208. It is therefore the best-selling electric car in France in 2022 (source: NGC-Data), just ahead of the Dacia Spring in second place. Tesla’s Model 3 sedan is third, followed only by the Renault Mégane E-Tech.
On the SUV side, the Peugeot 2008 II is ahead, with 51,454 registrations in 2022, including 7,174 fully electric e-2008 models. This last model is less popular, because it is based on the CMP modular platform (identical to its thermal versions). We therefore observe a rather limited performance, especially with regard to autonomy, but also its recharging capacity.
Peugeot has plans to electrify one of its most popular models in 2023. It is the 3008, which was the seventh best-selling model in France in 2022 with more than 35,000 units sold. The Peugeot 3008 has been at the top of C-segment SUV sales in France since its launch in 2016. It makes sense that this model would go fully electric. What has Peugeot prepared for this new electric model?
What to expect from the Peugeot e-3008?
The future Peugeot 3008 will be based on the eVMP platform (Electric Vehicle Modular Platform), derived from the EMP2 platform, which offers the possibility of having several engines.
Peugeot has already lifted the veil on the future Peugeot 3008 and 5008 in light hybridization with a 1.2 PureTech (EB2 Gen3) Hybrid 48 V three-cylinder engine and a new gearbox called e-DCS6, a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox . The energy stored in the 48V battery, which is located under the driver’s seat, has a capacity of 0.90 kWh, or 0.43 useful kWh. All this to send power to the electric motor, which produces up to 28 horsepower and 55 Nm of torque, located on the front axle. As for the autonomy in 100% electric, it would be ridiculous, specifically less than one km, the main reason for this hybridization is to lower the overall consumption. These new 3008 and 5008, dubbed the Hybrid 136 e-DCS6, will go official in June 2023.
But, the version that interests us is the fully electric version. The Peugeot e-3008 will be the first Peugeot car based on the platform. STLA dedicated to electric vehicles, and more specifically the STLA Medium. The information was made official by Linda Jackson, the general manager of the French manufacturer Peugeot.
Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares previously indicated that in 2021 several vehicles will benefit from this new STLA platform:
- STLA small for compact vehicles from 3.5 to 4.3 meters long, with batteries from 37 to 82 kWh for a maximum range of 500 km. It is an expected platform for 2026 that will undoubtedly benefit the future Jeep Renegade;
- STLA Medium for cars from 4.35 to 5 meters, with battery capacities from 87 to 104 kWh and a range of up to 700 km;
- large STLA for vehicles from 4.65 to 5.4 meters, for battery capacities from 101 to 118 kWh with a range of up to 800 km;
- STLA framework for larger vehicles, from 5.4 to 5.9 meters and battery capacities from 159 to more than 200 kWh, with a range of up to 800 km.
Therefore, the Peugeot e-3008 could be equipped ACC batteries (Total-Saft/PSA) with capacity up to 104 kWhwhat would i achieve autonomy up to 700 km autonomy. We remain cautious, we imagine that it will be the autonomy shown in a high-end version.
It remains to be determined whether the consumption announced by Peugeot will be the actual consumption measured according to the WLTP homologation cycle. It should be noted that Stellantis often advertises ambitious consumption figures by dividing battery capacity by range, which can give very low consumption that does not account for all factors, such as power loss when charging. Consumption measured according to the WLTP cycle provides a more accurate picture of actual consumption.
Here it will surely be a question of a maximum WLTP autonomy located between 500 and 600km. In terms of charging power, the electric Peugeot 3008 would offer fast charging in direct current up to 200kW.
Little information is available about the electric motor used, the Peugeot e-3008 would receive a new electric motor developed by E-Motors (Nidec/PSA) and called M3. This is the new 156 hp engine that equips the new version of the Peugeot e-208. The Peugeot e-3008 would thus be available with one or two engines, we are talking about 200 hp and up to 350 hp in all-wheel drive.

Peugeot plans to adopt a distinctive design for your zero emission models, marked by a touch of futurism, which should also be reflected in the interior. This approach aims to compete directly with the Renault Mégane E-Tech, Skoda Enyaq iV and Volkswagen ID.4. We imagine that Peugeot will make noticeable changes to the design due to the emphasis on aerodynamics.

Peugeot has announced that the new generation of the 3008 and its electric version are presented between April and June 2023for commercialization in late 2023 / early 2024. As for the price, nothing has been announced yet, you can probably imagine prices from 45,000 to 65,000 euros for the Peugeot e-3008.
