DXOMARK compared the behavior of the chargers of the Xiaomi 12 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Oppo Find X5 and Google Pixel 6 when connected to phones from another brand. Verdict: not famous. Only Google comes out with its head held high.
The switch to USB-C for the entire European continent will be fully implemented by the end of 2024. The ambition of the European authorities is clear: to impose a universal charging port to reduce the carbon impact of short electronic device sales.
A noble goal, but one that could be compromised by smartphone manufacturers. In recent years, the phone market has seen a variety of proprietary fast-charging standards flourish. SuperVOOC on Oppo, HyperCharge on Xiaomi… they all use his nickname. Si l’idee est bien sûr d’essayer d’offrir la meilleur service de charge à ses clients, le résultat est bien souvent qu’une charge rapide bien précise ne fuctionnera pas aussi bien avec el smartphone de un concurrent d’en face and vice versa.
DXO did the test
To be convinced of this, it is enough to look at the test carried out by DXOMARK. The company specialized in laboratory tests tested the chargers of the Xiaomi 12 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Oppo Find X5 and Google Pixel 6.
For Samsung, Oppo and Xiaomi, the observation is clear: the charging peak is reached only with their own brand smartphone. On the other hand, the Google charger, capable of going up to 30W while the Pixel 6 supports a charge of up to 23W, does manage to deliver all its power to the Galaxy S23 and go up to 27W to the Xiaomi 12T. Pro.
The worst student is Oppo, whose SuperVOOC charger just doesn’t work with its little friends. He shyly reaches 10 W every time. The other brands offer a power of around 20 W which is not ostentatious, but which allows at least one charge in less than 2 hours. On the contrary, if you connect a Xiaomi 12T Pro to an Oppo Find X5 charger, it will take 3 hours and 33 minutes to reach 100%.
