Xiaomi prepares with the Redmi A2 one of the cheapest smartphones on the market, below 100 euros.
The smartphones of more than 1000 euros that advance in the sector and serve as a technological showcase are good, the smartphones that the majority can buy are better. Xiaomi is the great specialist in aggressive value for money and the brand seems about to give a new blow.
A Xiaomi Redmi at 97 euros
Obviously, ultra-low-cost smartphones are nothing new. There are references that can be recommended for less than 100 euros, but this comes with big concessions. According to the characteristics shared by Roland Quandt from WinFuture regarding the future Xiaomi Redmi A2, the brand would offer interesting options for a smartphone that would be marketed at 97 euros. That is, a complete smartphone at a lower price than Apple AirPods or a stylus, all the same.
It is, in fact, the first smartphone equipped with the MediaTek Helio G36 chip. It is made up of 8 Cortex-A53 cores and a PoverVR GE8320 graphics chip. Xiaomi will offer 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage along with the SoC. A microSD reader is included.
Among the apparent strengths of the smartphone, in this price range, should also be its 6.52-inch IPS LCD screen with a definition of 1600 x 720 pixels. Finally, we have a 5000 mAh battery that guarantees a good autonomy for the product.
But sacred sacrifices
Obviously, with its camera equipped with an 8-megapixel sensor, we shouldn’t have too much hope when it comes to the quality of the shots. Above all, Xiaomi made the curious decision to integrate a microUSB port for charging into its product, which will be limited to 10W. We are clearly in the anachronism here.
A small feature of the A range, the Xiaomi Redmi A2 will run on Android 13 with Android Go. The launch is scheduled for the next few weeks in Germany. In principle, we can also expect availability in France.
