It had to happen eventually. Microsoft partners with a carrier to boost its all-inclusive gaming offering with Xbox Cloud Gaming. Bouygues Telecom is the first to do so with its new Bbox Gaming offer.
It’s an offer that seems so obvious that one may be surprised it hasn’t been offered on the French market before. Bouygues Telecom announces a new package dedicated to video games and called Bbox Gaming, whose function is to gather the operator’s knowledge and associate it with Microsoft’s Game Pass offer.
Console, fiber and subscription
Actually, these are two offers that Bouygues Telecom launches on the French market: Bbox Must Gaming and Bbox Ultym Gaming. In both cases, it is about associating a fiber package from the operator, with a Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E modem with the Microsoft offer, that is, an Xbox Series S and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
As a reminder, it is the latter that provides access to the firm’s Xbox Cloud Gaming service. Bouygues Telecom does not announce here the integration of the cloud gaming service into its TV box, a small missed opportunity that may be corrected later.
In addition to the package, the new subscriber will be able to choose between two options:
- 1 euro for an Xbox Series S and 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate;
- 159 euros for the same console and 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Is this an attractive offer?
The price of the package offered with these two offers is 41.99 euros per month for the Must version, or 50.99 euros per month for the Ultym version. In both cases, this is the non-promotional price of the two bundles without Xbox.
These two packages are offered respectively at 24.99 or 30.99 euros for the first year on the Bouygues Telecom site. Over two years and giving up this promotion, we will pay 204 euros more for the first offer and 240 euros more for the second.
However, Microsoft’s offer includes a console for at least 200 euros (the Xbox Series S can be found at this type of price in periods of good offers) which can already justify Bouygues Telecom’s game offer. You can add the 40 to 311 euros of Xbox Game Pass included and you are left with a very attractive offer from the operator.
Also keep in mind that this is a good way to lock in Microsoft subscription pricing. If the firm wants to increase the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you should not worry during the 24 months, since it is a prepaid offer.
