Samsung has just announced the Samsung Galaxy A54 and A34. We have them in hand and a priori the copy seems quite good with greater general fluidity and some gain in comfort for the A54.

Due to the popularity of the brand and its attractive price positioning, the Samsung Galaxy A50 and A30 series are usually the basic smartphones for many of us. After an excellent Samsung Galaxy A53 and a very good Samsung Galaxy A33, the time has come to discover the Galaxy A54 and A34. We took them by the hand shortly before their presentation.
Samsung Galaxy A54: extra soul
The Galaxy A53 was one of their very good but somewhat boring smartphones. One of those that it is difficult to advise a fan of daring designs.

If it doesn’t revolutionize the genre, the Galaxy A54, like the rest of the range, has stolen the look of the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus, with the cameras perfectly integrated and fused into the back of the phone. The Galaxy A54 is also a bit closer to the Galaxy S23, as it has a slightly smaller form factor than its 6.4-inch predecessors.
The result, once held in the hand, immediately seems prettier, immediately less massive. If we add to that a glass back and a contained thickness, the Galaxy A54 little by little begins to mock the high-end codes and is quite attractive. The proposed colors (white, black, purple and yellow) integrate well with the whole and the glass back prevents fingerprints quite well.

The Samsung Galaxy A34 for its part immediately feels larger in the hand. With its 6.6-inch screen, it’s a precious baby. The edges seem a little thicker than on its counterpart, especially on the chin.
For both phones, the 5000 mAh battery doesn’t seem to weigh too much.
Screen and processor: seems more fluid
One of the big negatives of the Galaxy A53 and A33 last year was their lack of fluidity. Hard to judge during a short grip, but I found the Galaxy A54 and A34 to be more responsive and clean at this specific point. I had fun playing around with the interface, opening and closing various apps, etc.
If we feel a slightly slower smartphone than the Galaxy S23 Ultra, for example, the level of responsiveness still seems much higher. The change to 120 Hz for the A34 should play a big part in the equation. We will judge more during our tests. As a reminder, the Galaxy A54 is equipped with an Exynos 1380 while its friend relies on a Mediatek Dimensity 1080.
Prices and availability
The Samsung Galaxy A54 is available from March 15, 2023 at a price of 499 euros in 8 GB + 128 GB and 549 euros in 8 GB + 256 GB. The Samsung Galaxy A34 is listed for its part at 399 euros in 6 GB + 128 G and 469 euros in 8 GB + 256 GB.
