For this eighth generation, Apple has not made any radical changes to its high-end watch. The Series 8 continues the winning formula of previous models, with a 41mm square format case, and a robust screen that can take a beating thanks to its slightly more robust design. In addition, thanks to the refinement of the edges, the screen area is much larger and comfort is present for navigation.
The Always-On mode is still in play, but gains in brightness (without detriment to autonomy), to make reading the information even more visible, even when the watch is not activated by turning the wrist. Controlled sports and health monitoring
To ensure complete monitoring, Series 8 takes advantage of watchOS 9 to be as effective as ever in monitoring sports activities. It’s packed with sensors: a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, altimeter, and even a more energy-efficient barometric altimeter. An ideal companion during your sports sessions, whether you have opted for cycling, walking, yoga or even swimming (the watch is still waterproof up to 50 m). And during our test, the GPS was particularly accurate.
It also puts the package on the health side: heart rate monitoring, ECG (electrocardiogram and atrial fibrillation, cardiac arrhythmia) monitoring, blood oxygen level monitoring, sleep monitoring… The Apple Watch Series 8 is a real daily helper. The watch also provides fall detection, which alerts loved ones or emergency services if you remain motionless on the ground for too long. And now it can also detect falls from a bicycle. Another novelty: it offers a temperature sensor that allows you to follow the menstrual cycle. This version would be able to indicate the arrival of the ovulation period.
As for its autonomy, it was able to last two days in eco mode without recharging it during our test. A duration that can decrease in case of intensive use. It will take an hour to recharge it.
