Huawei’s second generation FreeBuds Pro scored 8/10 in our test. A good note, thanks to more advanced features than in the first iteration. For those who are interested, here they are even more accessible than during the sales: 164.88 euros instead of 219 euros.

After a first pair of convincing high-end headphones, Huawei returns to the audio space with its Freebuds Pro 2. Designed in collaboration with Devialet, they aim to offer better audio reproduction than previous models. If one of its negative points in our test was the high price, today it is possible to save 55 euros on the bill thanks to this offer.

Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 at the best price?
Comfortable headphones, but not very durable
Very similar to the first generation of Huawei FreeBuds Pro, the FreeBuds Pro 2 adopt the bar format, but this time rectangular. Otherwise, they are in-ear headphones, to offer good comfort and effective passive isolation. They are quite pleasant to wear thanks to their low weight of 5.9 g and they stay well in the ear canal. During our test, we were able to wear the headphones for several hours without feeling any particular discomfort. Also note that you can also use them during sports or outdoors as they are IP54 certified, giving good protection against sweat, rain or splashes.
Instead, autonomy fishes a bit. We are entitled to 4 hours of listening with active noise reduction in AAC and up to 6:30 without ANC. With the case, you can go up to 6 and 30 respectively. On the charging side, it takes less than 30 minutes to complete and can also be done with Qi wireless charging by laying the case flat.
Good audio quality and active game noise reduction.
The Chinese firm has specially put the package on the audio side. The wireless headphones each have an 11mm dynamic driver and a planar driver, to cover a large part of the audio spectrum and provide more precision in it. All this reinforced by the presence of codecs, specifically AAC, SBC, HWA and LDAC and Hi-Res Audio Wireless compatibility, since we have a theoretical frequency range of 20 to 40,000 Hz. Also the characteristic Devialet sound, with round bass, though it is the mids that are most impressive.
Like the first models, the FreeBuds Pro 2 offer active noise reduction. Less convincing than the audio part, the active noise reduction promised by Huawei is a bit of a hit and miss: the Pro 2 sometimes has trouble reducing all noise, with the exception of the lowest frequencies, which constantly leak out. We will still be entitled to four active noise reduction modes in addition to the passive mode. The FreeBuds Pro 2 still have the advantage of offering multipoint Bluetooth, allowing the earbuds to connect to two devices simultaneously.
