Lenovo is back with a new member of its IdeaPad Duet family: the 3i 2023 edition. A small portable machine that’s both a PC and a trackpad at the same time.
Lenovo takes advantage of the Mobile World Congress to present many products. First announcement to remember: the renewal of the IdeaPad Duet 3i. Much has been said about this little machine since the first version we tried.
A cousin of the EeePC
For the record, the IdeaPad is an alternative to the iPad (Air). However, it is also a little cousin of the EeePC, those mini PCs that were all the rage 15 years ago. The format is simple: an 11.5-inch diagonal IPS LCD display, at 2000 by 1200 pixel definition, touch screen. To ensure a low price, Lenovo has adopted for Intel Celeron (Alder Lake-N) chips, Intel’s entry-level alongside Pentiums, up to 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory and 256 GB of SSD in M. 2 PCIe format. In fact, it’s a really small PC running Windows 11 Pro.
It is a very easy machine to transport, with its retractable keyboard and a thickness of only 8.95 mm. The keyboard with touchpad unfolds and separates from the screen if you wish, so you can use the device in tablet format with great ease.
With a 35.6 Wh battery, Lenovo promises 8.5 hours of battery life. Add to that the fast charging with Rapid Charge Boost technology, which allows us to have two hours of additional autonomy in just 15 minutes of charging. The tablet has a 5-megapixel front camera and an 8-megapixel rear camera, while the two built-in speakers are Dolby Audio certified. Finally, note that the side power button also doubles as a fingerprint reader. Of course, a Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 module is built into the machine.
Be careful not to confuse it with the IdeaPad Duet
Don’t confuse this machine with the IdeaPad Duet 5, a 13.3-inch machine running ChromeOS with an ARM SoC. There’s also the IdeaPad 5i, a version of Windows 11 equipped with a 12.35-inch display, with Intel’s Alder Lake-U and its 15-watt TDP. This variant offers more features, but is much more expensive (from 750 euros).
The main advantage of the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 3i is, obviously, its price: starting at 449 euros with availability scheduled for June 2023. It really is an interesting alternative to Android tablets and the iPad, which you will have to test to make sure that its performance is adequate. o’clock.
