The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra builds on its predecessor’s good foundation by refining what it deserved to be. Better chip, more megapixels, slightly revised design, and higher price.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra has just been officially presented by Samsung. It takes all or part of the design of the Galaxy S22 Ultra with some minor differences. The circles around the sensors on the left are thicker and those on the right are flatter. The bezels are also flatter, making the screen slightly less curved, and that’s about it by design.
Therefore, it retains its appearance, which is highly inspired by the Note range and its design, which, apparently, was so popular that Samsung decided to decline it in the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus. We are all equal in a beautiful baby with generous dimensions of 78.1 x 163.4 x 8.9mm per 234 grams.

photographic versatility
Two advantages emerge from these generous dimensions: the 5000 mAh battery to see in front and the 6.8-inch screen. The latter is the only one in the range that raises its definition to QDH+ and extends its refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. The brightness goes up to 1750 cd/m², like the rest of the range. We can credit this generous formatting to the stylus, which changes size as you hover. A stylus from the S22 Ultra will not be interchangeable with the S23 and vice versa.

Beyond these undeniable advantages, the star when talking about the Ultra model is, of course, the photographic part. Of course, the versatility offered by the different photographic modules is found in the presence of an ultra-wide angle, a main sensor and two X3 and X10 telephoto lenses. Three novelties appear: a 200 Mpx (f/1.7) sensor in the main one, the arrival of the double pixel in the autofocus of all the sensors and the selfie sensor that goes from 40 to 12 megapixels to help there also to a better auto focus.
One chip “for Galaxy”
On the video front, the S23 Ultra promises up to 30 FPS at 8K. Also note that the OIS has been improved compared to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, now with 3 degrees of stabilization from 1.5 before. Clearly, this means that it will withstand even greater movements.

Last year, the Galaxy S22 Ultra had a major flaw: its chip. As foreshadowed by rumors and various joint statements from Qualcomm and Samsung, the Galaxy S23 Ultra does indeed run Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
